When I was a child, my history teacher told me — and my entire class — that the Arawak Taíno people “don’t exist.” But our stories lived in my grandmother’s words. Our language lives in our home. Our identity lived in our bones.

I created T.A.I.N.O so no Native descendant would ever again be told their people vanished.

Today we are:

• Publishing children’s books rooted in Arawak Taíno culture
• Bringing education to schools, festivals, podcasts, and community programs
• Leading the Sacred Greens Celebrity Golf Initiative to uplift Indigenous communities connected to ancestral lands
• Continuing my personal resolution effort to secure statewide acknowledgment of Arawak Taíno descendants and the establishment of Arawak Taíno Heritage Day.
